A tip o’ the hat goes to jorgefabregas, who noted that the ol’ website has been lacking in that sweet, sweet AFL recap action the last couple of days. Consider this your recap update for the three games since last we met: November 7, 9, and 10.
November 7: Mesa 6, Glendale 4
- Luis Alexander Basabe, 1-5
- Luis Robert, 1-4, HR. The home run was gargantuan.
- Tanner Banks got roughed up starting: 1.2 IP, 5 ER on 5 hits and 2 dingers allowed; 2 K and 1 BB.
- Zach Thompson’s line was better: 2 IP, 1 H, 3 K and 1 BB.
Here’s Robert’s home run:
#WhiteSox Luis Robert with an absolutely mammoth home run. Good lord. Nobody on the field moved. Make sure your volume is turned up. @MLBPipeline pic.twitter.com/OuukA6mfEV

November 9: Glendale 6, Scottsdale 5
- Luis Robert, 3-4 with a 2B, 2 R, RBI, 1K and a stolen base. More impressive was the sequence in the second: infield single, stolen base, run scored on a sac fly to center.
- Danny Dopico struggled locating: .2 IP, 1 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 1 K, HBP
Here’s Robert’s score from second on the sac fly:
…advances to third on a sac fly by Yu Chang, and then breaks for home with the Scottsdale taking too long to get the throw in. Great hustle and heads up play Robert, all the way around the bases pic.twitter.com/R9amvbXELp

November 10: Scottsdale 5, Glendale 3
- Luis Alexander Basabe: 0-4, K
- Luis Robert: 0-4, 2K. Robert’s torrid pace was finally checked. Entering this game, he had a hit in all 14 games he had appeared (the best in the AFL since 2014), with a line of .386/.435/.526.
- Laz Rivera: 0-3, K and an error in the field.
I’d like to see Robert start in AA. I think he can handle it.
I’d like to see Robert slide feet first.
When he hurt his thumb in ST he did slide feet first.
So noted, thanks. I’m running out of ideas….
If he’s fast enough to score from second on a sac fly, maybe he can just forgo sliding altogether.
Margalus adopting french working hours I see. Â
I’m just grateful Robert has stayed healthy long enough to rack up a good number of plate appearances this fall.
