Arizona Fall League recap: Nov. 1, 2018

Zack Burdi's already lengthy rehab hits another snag

In Wednesday’s Arizona Fall League recap, we noted the success of the bulk of the White Sox pitching prospects on the Glendale staff. Tanner Banks, Danny Dopico and Zach Thompson were all pitching as fine versions of themselves.

As for Zack Burdi, he was glossed over due to the diminished velocity, which subdued excitement despite the decent results (4.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 K over five games).

Thursday failed to bring better news on the Burdi front.

This doesn’t change the big picture, in that everybody was already resigned to waiting until February to see if the velocity returned. But considering Burdi hoped to use the AFL to get back to a normal pitching schedule, this arduous rehab process is even coming up short on that front.
