OTHER IMPENDING FREE AGENTS

Try to retain, or let go?

  • Miguel Gonzalez (made $4.75 million in 2018)-let go
  • Hector Santiago (made $2 million in 2018 — added)- Retain: 1 year, $2 Million

FREE AGENTS

No. 1: Marwin Gonzales (4 years, $56 million).  Can play almost any position, and has a better bat than Leury or Yolmer.

No. 2: Nathan Eovaldi (4 years, $75 million).  If he can stay healthy, he Eovaldi can be a mid rotation starter for the next few years.

No. 3: Josh Donaldson (2 years, $25 million). Would rather have Donaldson at third base than Yolmer for the next year or two.

No. 4: James Shields (1 year, $5 million). Can eat some innings again.

TRADES

  1. No. 1: Trade Reynaldo Lopez and Dylan Covey to Dodgers for Alex Verdigo: Hurts to give up Lopez, but we get Centerfielder if the future.
  2. No. 2: Trade Zack Collins, Luis Basabe, Dane Dunning, and Wellington Castillo to Marlins for J.T. Realmuto: Can afford to give up Basabe after getting Verdugo, and we get our catcher of the future.
  3. No. 3: Trade Alex Call, Jordan Stephens, and Joel Booker to Yankees for Sonny Gray: Giving up some outfield depth to take a flier on Gray.
  4. No. 4: Trade Blake Rutherford to Rockies for Colten Welker: Both players are at least a year from the Majors, and are probably blocked at the major league level.
  5. No 5.: Trade Leury Garcia to Angels for RHP Joe Gatto: Garcia has no place on roster, and we get back potential future reliever or back of the rotation starter.

As Cirensica

2 yrs and 25M for Donaldson?
I hardly believe he will sign that low

Jer-in-Az

This just be Dave Dombrowski’s burner account.

Jim Margalus

I’m going through the plans, adding them to a spreadsheet, and this is the only one so far without a backup catcher.

KenWo4LiFe

for that much money Marwin better be able to sport the tools of ignorance.

He didn’t trade Narvaez. So I guess he expects for Narvaez to announce an early retirement
