Arizona Fall League recap: Oct. 23, 2018

Little power from White Sox prospects this fall, but a fair amount of patience

It’s been a quiet start for the White Sox’ position-player contingent in the Arizona Fall League. Luis Basabe, Luis Robert and Laz Rivera have combined for one extra-base hit — a double — over 67 at-bats.

The good news? They’ve also shown a pretty good idea of the strike zone, combining for eight walks to 12 strikeouts. Considering Robert and Rivera tended to expand the zone this season, it’s a small sample that I wouldn’t mind seeing hang around a while.

Peoria 8, Glendale 1

  • Luis Basabe went 0-for-2 with two walks and a strikeout.
  • Laz Rivera, 1-for-4 with a double.
  • Zack Burdi: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K

We will know exactly as much about Luis Robert at the end of the AFL season as we did before it. Great tools and he can’t stay healthy enough to take the field.

Walk and a double so far today for Robert. ??
