Intimidators celebrate a playoff berth (@Intimidators)

After losing the last five games of the first half to fumble away a postseason spot in the South Atlantic League, the Kannapolis Intimidators let a similar cushion slip away in the second half. West Virginia won seven in a row during a stretch where Kannapolis went just 3-6, allowing them to grab hold of the second playoff spot in the Northern Division with two games remaining.

This time, the Power were the ones who couldn’t take advantage of controlling their destiny. They could’ve clinched on Sunday because Kannapolis lost, but West Virginia dropped its game to Charleston. That opened the door for the Intimidators, who could break into the postseason with a win combined with another West Virginia loss on Monday.

Kannapolis took care of business with a 9-4 victory over Hagerstown, and now they’re playing extra baseball because West Virginia failed to seal the deal. All in all, that first-half collapse ultimately cost the Intimidators nothing but a little extra uncertainty in the sales department.

Six dingers for Sheets should be a good month, not a seasons worth.

It’s frustrating because everything else with his season is successful except his home run numbers. .293/.368 with 28 doubles, only 16.6 K%/PA, and I’ve seen good reports on his defense at first.
For some one who had good reports of raw power, but can only come up with 6 home runs from a full year in Winston-Salem is pretty disappointing.

Patience. He had an excellent year in literally every other aspect, and he has a ton of raw power that he was able to easily tap into during college ball. The power will come. I’d MUCH rather have him doing this at age 22 than hitting 30 home runs and striking out 200 times (like a DJ Peters).

Robert’s lack of power is a little disappointing. Hopefully he makes some strides in Arizona.

Thumb injuries suck. He has plenty of pop. He’ll be fine if he can get/stay healthy.

Really hope Bryce Bush turns into a real thing

I think Collins should start in AAA next year. At this point I doubt a big breakout in hitting for average is going to come, so it is time to see how well his OPS survives higher-level pitching.

sgp2204

I think it’s time they accept he’s never going to be a great defensive catcher and let him focus more on his hitting.

Plus, Charlotte is a bandbox. Dingers baby!

Collins could hit 20 HR with the Knights next year.
