Every since Eloy Jimenez’s Players’ Tribune post went live, he’s backed it up with his performance. He’s 12-for-18 with a triple, two doubles and a walk over the four games since he declared “I’m Ready,” and it’s part of an equally scorching seven-game streak (.621/.633/.759).
After a 4-for-4 game that raised his average to .378, Our Man in Charlotte Jonathan Lee asked Jimenez about that post, and it gave a simple explanation:
Eloy Jimenez wrote a much discussed feature for the Players Tribune last week where he exclaimed "I'm ready." He explains why he did it. @SoxMachine @FutureSox pic.twitter.com/gbPtCdXNa9

If you can’t hear the audio, Jimenez said, “I just said ‘I’m ready’ because I feel it.” Evidently.

Boy, not the finish to the season that Collins must have been hoping for. He’s had a brutal 2 weeks.
And yet he’s still had between an above average to great offensive season as a whole, in terms of wRC+ (he’s at 130).
I wouldn’t use wRC+ in the minors. I don’t think it translates to other levels.
What does translate is K%, which is now at 30.5% for Zack Collins in AA. A 2.8% increase from A+. That’s concerning.
Seems like he might turn out a Matt Davidson-esque hitter. Acceptable if he can stick at catcher, not so much if he’s a first baseman.Â
I think it’s acceptable to move Collins from “Future core piece” to “Role player” prospect status. White Sox still have Omar Narvaez under control til 2023.
IMO, Zavala has eclipsed Collins as the top catching prospect in the system. If Collins is going to be part of the core of a contending Sox team, it won’t be as a catcher. It’ll be as a DH.
A future DH with a 30% k rate and .400 SLG in AA has like negative value.
Birmingham is one of the worst parks to hit at in all of the minors. That doesn’t excuse the K rate, but I’m fine with the other numbers.Â
His home numbers are better than his away numbers though. Which players normally do, but still…
It depends on whether your using it to describe how well he’s hit this year or build an expectation for what he’ll do in the future at the major league level.
For the former wRC+ is perfectly fine. But, yeah, the strikeouts have really started to pile up lately which is concerning.
On a related note, Zack Collins showed up in this fangraphs post. His walk rate is nearly four standard deviations above the AA average, which is pretty remarkable.
He needs to watch the video of how he was swinging after watching the video of how he was swinging in Miami, I guess.Â
2 weeks?
Is the shine off the ’16 draft class a little bit?
Collins .235 with 155ks and appears behind Zavala on the depth chart.
Burdi unfortunate injury but has lost a year.
Hansen looked guy who could make a draft class and then he forgot how to throw straight and how stop all the guys he does walk from steaing 2nd and 3rd.
All is back end of prospect lists handing on by a thread,. Jamseon Fisher is AAAA filler.
achill achill there could be some good – Ian Hamilton. Joel Booker fringe hopes.
It’s not screaming Hoss onwned this draft.
So look at ’17: What have Nick and Steele shown.
and 15 months in no idea what Robert will be. No power.
Hunter Schryver has a 0.00 ERA in Winston-Salem with an 0-2 record. Tough love in those minor league extra innings results.
If they implement that cockamamie rule in the major leagues soon I’m going to be tremendously disappointed. Â It seems like they’re headed that way too. Â Manfred sucks.Â
