White Sox Minor Keys: April 30, 2018

With two affiliates idle, Birmingham makes up for the lack of action with a wild one.

Just the box scores today, because I just landed back in New York.

Gwinnett 5, Charlotte 0

  • Charlie Tilson went 2-for-4 with a strikeout and a stolen base.
  • Jose Rondon singled and struck out thrice.
  • Casey Gillaspie was 0-for-4 with a K.
  • Thyago Vieira: 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K

Birmingham 11, Biloxi 7

  • Tito Polo went 3-for-4 with a walk, and was caught stealing.
  • Zack Collins went 2-for-5 with a strikeout.
  • Eloy Jimenez also went 2-for-5, but with a double.
  • Seby Zavala went 3-for-4 with a double and a walk.
  • Matt Rose had a monster game, going 3-for-5 with two homers and six driven in.
  • Jameson Fisher, 1-for-4 with two strikeouts.
  • Ian Clarkin: 5 IP, 6 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 1 HR, 3 WP.

*Clarkin gave up all seven runs before the Barons even came to the plate, and managed to pick up the win. That’s how one can look at that line and come away encouraged.

This is encouraging. I was starting to worry. Very reminiscent of Rodon’s start to last year…
