White Sox Minor Keys: April 17, 2018
Following up on Monday’s Minor League Keys, Ryan Cordell indeed went on the disabled list. The official reason: a broken clavicle, which he suffered on this play:
The Charlotte Knights’ press release said that Cordell won’t undergo surgery, but he will miss eight weeks at a minimum. Eddy Alvarez came off the disabled list to take his place on the roster.

Rutherford with 4 2B’s in 9 games.
That Henzman line.
It is a very โonly in the low minorsโ kind of line.
Don’t look now, but through 54 PAs Adolfo’s running an 18.5% K rate; a huge improvement for him. Walk rate (7.4%) isn’t half bad either. Guy needs to wreck his elbow more often.
For comparison, he struck out over 30% of the time in previous seasons and ran a BB% a full point lower. It’s early, but it seems like something has clicked for him.
Thrice I saw thrice, which was nice. ย
Trey Michalczewski – Nobody is falling for you again. You can switch positions, start hitting .300, and stay age appropriate all you want. Not gonna work this time.
Well, he has a >.500 BABIP and 38% K rate, so….
I’m rooting for him regardless.
Updated draft board from Kiley and Longenhagen:

Looks like maybe the supposed interest in Swaggerty isn’t that crazy.
I think a lot of that is based on the rumor that the Sox are in on him. IMO- It’d be a terrible choice. His lower half is a mess. Another “high” floor mistake.
I’ve not gotten the impression that Kiley and Longenhagen let a team’s interest affect their rankings (this isn’t a mock draft, it’s a ranked list). I was a little surprised to see him this high though given the reports I’d read.
I’m actually afraid that the Sox have decided he’s their guy.
“…his contact ability has been inconsistent…”
No…thank…you.
You were correct. I just asked Kiley if draft rumors play into rankings. He said NOPE.
I wouldn’t claim to disregard Swaggerty on a scouting level, but the White Sox have plenty of outfield prospects already. What they seem to lack organizationally is SS/2B/3B with decent hit tool.
I wouldn’t be opposed to Madrigal
He’d be my preferred pick there based on what little I know, but I can’t see it happening. Even if he got to them (not sure he will), I’m not sure he’s their type.
I only care about BPA. And Swaggerty isn’t it.
At least two scouts disagree.
I havn’t been very high on him myself either but I don’t see him as low ceiling, maybe a Sizemore comp if all comes together. Always probably be some swing and miss in there.
Many scouts disagree with me. He’s getting Benintendi and Eaton comps. I think cleaning up his swing will cause a drop in power. Then he’s just tweener. Not fast enough to be an elite defender or basestealer. Not enough power to hit in the middle of the order.
Saw a Benintendi. Thought that was crazy though. You could tell he was going to be a plus hit guy right out of college.
A guy can be none of those things and still be a really good player.
Yeah given the reports, I don’t think low ceiling/high floor is even close to the right description for him.
This was well done by them. Next two weeks will be big for draft rankings with some marquee matchups.
Who do you want now?
Several days ago I recognized Craig Dedelow for a nice start of the season. He has since gone into the tank. Therefore, I denounce you as a poseur and a charlatan.
Hopefully this fixes it. I blame myself.
