Sporcle Saturday: Dingers against the Royals
In case you hadn’t noticed, Matt Davidson has been having himself some nice days against the Royals this season. He’s already tied for 2nd place all time in home runs against the Royals in a season with seven, and we haven’t even exited the month of April. Also: he has nearly as many dingers at Kauffman stadium this season as the Royals do as a team (Royals have 8). Today’s Sporcle will celebrate Mr. Davidson’s dingers: which White Sox players have hit the most home runs in a season against the Royals? Good luck!
Quiz Parameters
- As always, last names accepted in addition to both first and last.
- This should be a fairly easy quiz: as such, I’ve given you just 7 minutes to attempt completion.
- For hints, I’ve provided the position of the player and the season.
Useless information to amaze, annoy, confound, and/or confuse your friends:
- I love to average out small sample size lists as they make for ridiculous metrics. The average triple slash from the players on this list: .319/.404/1.124
- The leader on this list has 8 home runs. It’s entirely possible that Davidson tops this list (“top your list with Dean’s!”) by the end of this series (heck, tomorrow!?), given that there are still 3 games remaining between the two teams on the weekend.
- Talk about a one man wrecking machine: one player on this list also had 4 stolen bases, a triple, and three doubles in addition to his 7 home runs.

53/53 with 5:30 remaining.
You are correct in that this was pretty easy. The hardest one was trying to figure out which of the South Side Hit Men were on the list.
Got them with 5:44 left. One of these days the only hard one on this quiz is going to be Davidson.
Not after his Hall of Fame induction, no.

You’ve got 53? That’s impressive!
I’m sleep deprived from extra innings last night!!
Got 22 within the first minute; took me 4:30 to think of the 2010 OF.
I got 22! I keep forgetting that 2010 OF.
Think unicorns ?Â
20 out of 23. CQ was the only one I missed that I knew. Had to look up Vanentin as I never remember his name.
Oh, this was fun. 23/23 with 5:20 remaining. It gave me great pleasure to remember
21/23. For the life of me, I couldn’t remember the ’77 outfielders.
Had never heard of Gamble or Lemon.
Waiting for the Ken-bomb to explode…
Yup. I had that same thought.
22/23. I know who OG is, but I have trouble recalling most of the pre-80s White Sox for these quizzes.
Had under 3 minutes before I got them all. I spent about 2 minutes picturing iconic images of Dick Allen while blanking on his name.
21/23. Missed Gamble/Lemon
23/23 532 left.
