Castillo was on the base when Granderson first touched the ball. He then broke for home but retreated when he saw the ball was bobbled. Had he continued home he would have been safe anyway as he does not have to wait for the fielder to complete a catch on a tag up situation.

From rule 5.09 (a)

Catch Comment: A catch is legal if the ball is finally held by
any fielder, even though juggled, or held by another fielder
before it touches the ground. Runners may leave their bases the
instant the first fielder touches the ball
