Minor league roundup: September 10

The Winston-Salem Dash advanced to the Carolina League championship by completing a sweep of Kinston in 12 innings. The Great Falls Voyagers weren’t so fortunate in their first playoff game.

  • Winston-Salem 10, Kinston 5 (12 innings)
    • Jon Gilmore went 3-for-4 with two walks and an RBI.
    • Brandon Short went 2-for-6 with a homer, two RBI and a strikeout.
    • Jose Martinez hit a three-run homer in the 12th inning, his lone hit in five at-bats. He did draw a walk, and struck out once.
    • Nathan Jones walked six over 3 2/3 innings, but somehow escaped with just allowing a run. He gave up two hits while striking out three.
  • Helena 5, Great Falls 3
    • Ross Wilson (walk) and Andy Wilkins both went 1-for-4.
    • Michael Blanke had three singles in four at-bats with an RBI.
    • Addison Reed went six-up-six-down and struck out three.
