Friday's minor league roundup

The weekend is upon us, and so is Larry’s minor league week in review at South Side Sox.

  • Pawtucket 12, Charlotte 4
    • Dayan Viciedo’s rolling, hitting a solo shot and drawing a walk and taking one for the team in four PAs.
    • Jordan Danks doubled and struck out three times.
    • C.J. Retherford went 1-for-4 with a strikeout.
  • Mississippi 6, Birmingham 3
    • Brent Morel had a great day in defeat, going 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and his first stolen base. He also laid down a sac bunt.
    • John Shelby went 1-for-5.
    • Christian Marrero went 0-for-4 with a walk and two strikeouts.
    • Jhonny Nunez wasn’t anything special: 5 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 4 BB, 3 K, 1 HR.
  • Salem 7, Winston-Salem 4
    • Brandon Short singled, doubled and homered in five at-bats.
    • Jon Gilmore went 1-for-5 with an RBI and a strikeout, but committed his seventh error.
    • Justin Greene went 2-for-4; Eduardo Escobar was 0-for-5 with his seventh error as well.
    • Charles Leesman allowed four runs on seven hits only four innings. He didn’t walk anybody, but struck out just one.
    • Santos Rodriguez pitched a hitless 1 2/3 innings, walking two and striking out two.
  • West Virginia 2, Kannapolis 0
    • Miguel Gonzalez and Nick Ciolli both went 0-for-4; Ciolli struck out three times.
    • Kyle Colligan and Brady Shoemaker each went 1-for-4; Shoemaker struck out three times.
    • Terry Doyle was a monster, striking out 14 over seven innings and allowing just one run (solo homer) on four hits.
