What's the cure for a bad loss? Free stuff!

Bad news: After thinking the Sox might be able to shake the automatic losses, they went ahead and scored one run against a rookie lefty.  So much for two negatives making a positive.

Worse news:  I have another early tee time, so you'll miss out on some wondrous prose.

Good news:  I have three copies of MLB 08: The Show for Playstation 3 to give away to three lucky winners.  I'll be doing a combination of drawing random numbers from the comments of the week and the user list as a whole.  Take notice, lurkers.

More good news:  Jim Thome's getting a break:

Designated hitter Jim Thome has only five hits in his past 43 at-bats following the White Sox's 2-1 loss to Oakland.

But after the game, manager Ozzie Guillen said he already told Thome he wasn't going to start in Tuesday's series finale.
