Javier Vazquez is
the 10th member of the White Sox to be previewed for the 2008 season. There's really no trick in trying to project him -- the only question is whether or not he's up to it mentally. I'm pessimistic, if only because it worked out so well last year.

Masset, a bullpen asset? Don't laugh -- it's the actual headline of
Scott Merkin's mailbag. However, there's no answer to that question, as Merkin merely reiterates that Kenny Williams continues to hold out hope.
Otherwise, it's an unremarkable Q&A except for two things that irked me:
They also instantly improved by four or five games with Santana moving
to the National League, leading to Williams' entertaining quote of
"Good riddance."
Yes,
very droll. Aside from being "entertaining," he also figures that Santana will be replaced by a guy the Sox can hit. That's never a safe assumption.
[Freddy Garcia's] spectacular start in Game 4 of the 2005 World Series rightfully will live in franchise infamy
I don't think "infamy" is the word he's looking for, unless he abhors successful endeavors by incredibly sweaty dudes.

Mark Gonzalez's profile of Carlos Quentin
adds three phrases to the grinder lexicon:
"The way I describe him is that if I went to war and want one guy in
that foxhole, he's the guy," Stotz said. "He's a teammate's teammate.
He's got an air of toughness, but his core is quality."
And
nougat! Rich, creamy nougat! The starting outfield, left to right, could potentially be the guy you want in a foxhole,
an effervescent gamer/baseball rat, and Jermaine Dye. I think I know
how Jermaine can get such a label...
