Charlotte 10, Buffalo 3
Charlie Haeger found middle ground,
allowing three runs over eight innings on five hits and three walks. He struck out four.
Brad Eldred homered twice
and drove in five.
Jason Bourgeois had two hits and two RBI. He was caught stealing for the third straight time.
Chris Getz went 3-for-5, raising his average to .296.
Josh Fields went 1-for-4 with a walk, an RBI, two runs scored and his fourth error. Jerry Owens stole his sixth base.
Birmingham 4, Mobile 2
Justin Cassel struck out nine over seven shutout innings.
He scattered five hits and walked one, and induced nine groundouts to three flyouts.
Dave Cook homered for the second straight game, a solo shot; Miguel Negron drove in two.
Jon Link was touched up for two runs in the ninth inning, only the second and third earned runs he's allowed.
Wilmington 11, Winston-Salem 3
Jacob Rasner gave up six hits and five walks over four innings, and was lucky to escape with only three runs (two earned) allowed.
Noe Rodriguez and Matt Davis were both hit around for four runs apiece.
C.J. Retherford went 2-for-4; Javier Colina, Brandon Allen and Lee Cruz all doubled.
Kannapolis 3, Lakewood 2
Anthony Carter struck out eight over five innings,
allowing five hits and two unearned runs.
Santo Luis, Steven Spurgeon and Henry Mabee combined to throw four shutout innings in relief.
Jose Martinez hit his second double,
also his second extra-base hit.
Logan Johnson hit a two-run homer, his fourth of the year.
