Giant killing

My favorite part about Devin Hester's field goal return for a touchdown?  That he did a jump shot after making it to an end zone.  Thomas Jones did it after his fourth-quarter TD, too.  I don't know why the Giants settled on that to celebrate every above-average play they make, but that's probably the lamest act this side of Daunte Culpepper's arm-roll, which he parlayed into a career as Joey Harrington's backup in Miami.

Rashied Davis or Justin Gage -- who would you want as your emergency receiver?  I have a bias because I watched Gage play for three years at Missouri, so I'm not the guy to ask.  All I know is that one guy can't catch, and one guy can't protect the ball after he catches.  Davis also managed to get stuck by a kicker on a return.

Does anybody have beadier eyes than Tom Coughlin?  He also looks a bit like Luther from "Coach," if Luther were heartless and humorless.

I'm surprised the Bears were able to win this game despite not really controlling the line of scrimmage on either side of the ball.  They managed it on offense after the first quarter, but they didn't push guys around until garbage time.

Having only seen three and a half games this year, this was Rex Grossman's best performance of the season to me.  He saw some strange zones and unorthodox blitzes early, and he worked around them and over a rough start -- something he hasn't been able to do often.  His only interception was due to a blindside blitz the Bears didn't pick up.  Outside of his backpedaling, rocket two-yard pass to Thomas Jones, he didn't make any real stupid throws, and that one gained five yards plus a 15-yard roughing the passer penalty.

In a Bears uniform, Brian Griese looks a lot like Jim Harbaugh.

Guys who redeemed themselves after boneheaded plays -- Jones, Muhsin Muhammad, Charles Tillman.  Tillman had an outstanding game overall on Plaxico Burress, and the way he and Hunter Hillenmeyer cleared out that guy on Hester's return made me laugh.  Hillenmeyer had two crushing blocks on the return.

The Bears are now 3-0 this year on national television.  Go figure.
