It's official --
Razor Shines is the new third-base coach, while Joey Cora will move to the bench. Even if this move is only to keep Shines active and interested in the White Sox system, it's a great move. He's had success every where he's been, winning a championship in Winston-Salem, being named Manager of the Year in Birmingham, and leading the Charlotte Knights to a furious start and the playoffs in his only year at Triple-A.
I figured he might be a Barack Obama-type coaching prospect -- great name, hasn't failed yet nor burned any bridges, but nobody's biting. As of now, that's to the Sox's benefit. Plus, even if he makes some terrible decisions waving people home, it's more fun to say "Damnit, Razor!" than "Damnit, Joey!"

Is spring here yet? The Sox
released a tenative Spring Training schedule, and if it holds, I think I'm going to go back next year.
At
the end of last spring, I figured I'd do it every three years. But that was with having to balance trips to Phoenix with Tucson via the miserable Interstate 10, and having to juggle between watching two teams, the Sox and the Rockies, since I went with my buddy, Matt.
But man, this week is just screaming at me:
Five games in a row, all in Tucson, with three of them against the Rockies. We know where all the cool bars are. Less driving means more golf. The weather can't be any worse than it was last year (right?).
Yes, I do believe this schedule needs to stay put.

The new Who album? Better with every listen. Nice of them
to finally produce one in my lifetime.
