Yep, that's what I was referring to. In this division, if you can have four strong starters, it goes a long, long way. Detroit has no offense, but because they improved their pitching and defense, look where they are.

I'd sure like to have Brandon Allen back.

As far as 'Windows' go, the core of Buehrle, Peavy, Danks and Floyd will be here for two more years, so I would say that we have a two year window. Maybe not even two years, as I cannot imagine how Kenny will be able to fill all of the holes that we seemingly will have next year. I guess we will see.

I was wondering the same thing about Williams. He made trades this season that looked good on paper at the time, but looking back now, were they really that good? And define new window.

Linebrink is his biggest mistake, but Castro looked like an upgrade, and Randy Williams -- at least until the last series -- was fine against lefties.

Williams has done OK. This is the last year of this particular window of opportunity, and those tend to end in an ugly fashion. I think he's been proactive in creating a new window, but Peavy will have a big say in how that goes.

Jim, but the supporting players that you listed Castro, Linebrink, Williams (not to mention Dotel,Pena....) are BAD players that our delusional general manager acquired and handed to Ozzie to use. I absolutely hate Ozzie's in game moves but I can't fault him for a faulty roster, and one that could not catch a cold unless it stops rolling.

At what point is Kenny held accountable for this mess?

I agree with the premise that Ozzie has had a bad year. He has blown at least 5 games for us by his stubborn use of certain players. He has used Contreras, Linebrink, Williams & Pena in game situations instead of going with others. He over-rests certain players like Rios while he refuses to sit others that need time off like Beckham & Ramirez. He has not motivated the team by sitting guys that refuse to execute the fundamentals. I am tired of hearing Ozzie's explosions. They are ill-timed and go in one ear and out the other. He should take Sept off and let Joey run the team.

Its not the amount of use that Ozzie has given castro but its the odd way in which he has used him bothers me. Not pinch hitting for him the other day then the horrendous mistake of not pinch running for him with Lillbridge DIRECTLY lead to a loss. Dont get me started on Castro's lack of effort on that play because I could spit in his face right now too, but that was totally ozzies mistake. And it wasnt like he was giving AJ a full day off anyway cause he brought him in during the 9th I believe. Plus we are three days away from roster expansion at the time so over using AJ a bit before Flowers shows up wouldnt have been such a bad idea.

Ozzie has had a bad year, his hands have been tied in some reguards but bullpen management and some in game decesions have been more then just questionable. (Did he really NEED to start Contreres??? Im not buying that for a second!!!!).

And lets not forget one of Ozzies biggest faults, undying loyalty to Greg Walker, Jeff Cox, and Harold Baines all of whom can be replaced by porcelein statues and probably get the same results.
